當知是比丘心之所念이니
無以琉璃로 同於水精이어다
비구들의 마음에 생각하는 바를 마땅히 알아야 합니다.
유리로써 수정과 같이 취급해서는 안 됩니다.
강설 ; 앞에서는
“먼저 선정에 들어가서
이 사람들의 마음을 관찰한 후에
설법을 해야 합니다.”라고 하였고
여기서는
“비구들의 마음에 생각하는 바를
마땅히 알아야 합니다.”라고 하였다.
역시 법문을 듣는 사람의 마음을 잘 관찰하라는 뜻이다.
그리고 여기서 유리란 값지고 귀한 그릇이며
수정이란 저급한 물질을 말하는데,
존귀한 대승근기에 저급한 소승법을 담지 말라는 경고이다.
